Amplifier, not agent

There are two ways to point an AI at a person, and I want to be clear about which one I am building.

One replaces you in the loop. You hand it a goal, walk away, come back to a result. You move to the gate: approving, rejecting, supervising. That is the autonomous agent, and it is most of where the field is going right now.

The other amplifies you. It holds your context and surfaces the right thing at the right moment, and you stay in the loop because the loop is where you want to be. You are still the one thinking. You are just sharper than you would be alone.

Sapix is the second one, on purpose, because I actually like building and thinking and have no interest in handing that off. The analogy I keep coming back to is the iPhone: not really a new invention, more an extraordinary experience of primitives that already worked. I want Sapix to be that for one person. You stay the hero of the story; it is the warm field around you, not the protagonist.

One read I will mark clearly as my opinion, not fact: the big labs’ marginal energy skews toward autonomy. Agents that run for hours, fleets of them in parallel, the human lifted up out of the loop and set at the gate. I do not think that is a verdict on what serves someone who loves the work. It looks more like business-model gravity, autonomy scales into something you can sell by the seat. The side effect is that the amplifier case stays thin, under-tooled. That gap is where I am comfortable sitting, because I am sure I want to keep thinking.
